Run a language school with Learnomy

Cohorts by level, not by intake date. Cohort Coaching Program, Phase 1, lays out three pacing models: open self-paced, drip-by-enrollment, and cohort dates. A level-based class wants cohort dates: create one cohort per level per term (Beginner Spring 2027, Intermediate Spring 2027), each pointed at its own course, so everyone in that level's class unlocks the same week's content on the same day and meets on the same live schedule. Drip-by-enrollment is the wrong fit here, since it staggers each student's own calendar instead of keeping a level together.

Audio lessons for listening practice. Set a lesson's Content Type to Audio for an inline audio player -- the right format for a listening-comprehension track or a pronunciation model, where a video player adds nothing a plain audio player does not already give the student. Grading grammar drills. Question Types documents six free types. A language school leans on three in particular: Fill in the blank, where the question text carries {{blank1}}, {{blank2}} tokens and Learnomy grades each blank independently against its own accepted answer rows; Short answer, where Learnomy checks the student's typed response against one or more accepted-answer rows with a case-insensitive exact match; and Essay, for an open writing prompt that only a human can fairly grade, routed to the Grading inbox. Use Fill in the blank with two or more {{blank}} tokens per question for now -- a single-blank question currently scores zero regardless of what the student types, a known bug we are fixing. For a one-word or short-phrase translation check (the single-blank case), use Short answer instead; it grades correctly today. Reserve Essay for a paragraph-length writing task.

Live conversation sessions. Set a lesson's Content Type to Live with a Join link, Starts at, and Runs for, the same fields the cohort guide's Phase 2 walks through. Learnomy schedules the session and shows the student the right pre-session, live, and post-session state -- it does not create the Zoom, Google Meet, or Teams room itself, so set up the call in whichever tool the school already uses and paste the join link into the lesson.

Retake policy for vocabulary drills. Run a test-prep academy, Phase 2, lays out three retake approaches: unlimited, capped, and a per-student grant on top of a cap. A language school typically runs short vocabulary and grammar quizzes as Practice mode with an unlimited attempt limit, since the point is repetition until the material sticks, while a level's placement or end-of-term exam runs Graded with a capped attempt limit, the same way a certification exam does.
