Transcript

In this tutorial you will see your exam integrity signals in Learnomy. They sit beside an attempt while you grade it. You need the free Learnomy plugin with the Quizzes module, and a quiz with an essay question. It takes about two minutes. There are four steps. Turn on tab tracking. Open an attempt. Read the three signals. Then know what a flag means. Step one. Turn on tab tracking. Two of the signals need no setting. The tab count needs one. Open L M S Settings, then Settings, and click Quiz Settings. In the card called Anti-Cheat, Track Tab Switches has to be on. A new site has it off. Here it is on, so the switch is blue. Step two. Open an attempt. Open Learnomy, then Grading. The list holds attempts with an answer a person has to score, such as an essay. The signals are shown for these attempts. Click Grade on a row. The Grade attempt screen opens. The signals are in one row, under the name of the student and the quiz. Step three. Read the three signals. First, I P. It is the address the attempt was started from. Second, Tab switches. It is how many times the student left the quiz tab during the attempt. Here it is four. Third, a late notice. It shows only when a timed quiz came in more than a minute after its time limit, and it gives the minutes over. Step four. Know what a flag means. At three tab switches or more, the count turns orange and its shield carries a warning mark. Beside a flagged count is a reminder. Advisory only, not proof of misconduct. Go back and open another attempt. Under three, the count stays grey and the shield has a tick. Here it is one. The signals never change a score. They are something to weigh while you read the answers and grade as usual. That is all four. Tab tracking turned on, an attempt opened, the three signals read, and the flag understood. You now know what each signal says, and that none of them is a verdict. Next in this series: Set and grade an assignment.
