In this tutorial you will set up your emails in Learnomy. These are the emails the plugin sends on its own, such as a welcome when a student enrols. You need the free Learnomy plugin with the Notifications module on. It is on unless you, or the Simple Courses choice in the setup wizard, turned it off. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open Emails. Set the sender. Turn an email on or off. Change the words of an email. Then save, and check the Email Log. Step one. Open Emails. In your WordPress admin, open L M S Settings, then Settings, and click Emails. The section starts with the Email Sender card. Step two. Set the sender. Sender Name is the name people see on the email. Sender Email is the address it comes from. The grey text in each box is what WordPress uses while the box is empty. Fill in both, with an address on your own domain. Or leave a box blank to keep the WordPress default. A blank box stays blank when you save. Send test email sends one sample to your own account, so you can check it arrives. It is not clicked here. Step three. Turn an email on or off. Scroll to the card called Email Notifications. The emails are in groups, such as Courses and learning. Each email has a switch, Send email notification. Every switch is on until you turn it off. Quiz Submitted is one that busy sites often turn off, because it goes out when a student hands in a quiz. Step four. Change the words of an email. Under each switch is Customize copy. Click it, here on Enrollment Welcome. It opens a Subject and a Body. Leave one blank to keep the default text. The line above them lists the tags you can use, such as student name in curly brackets, which becomes the name of the person the email goes to. Step five. Save, then check the Email Log. Save Changes is at the bottom of the section. It is not clicked here. It saves the whole Emails section, not only what you changed. To check what went out, open L M S Settings, then Email Log. Each row is one email, with its type and status. Sent means WordPress took the email for sending. It is not proof that it arrived. That is all five. Emails opened, the sender set, an email turned on or off, the words of an email changed, and the Email Log checked. Your emails now come from you, and say what you want them to say. Next in this series: Add your own sign-up fields.
