Transcript

In this tutorial you will set up the General settings in Learnomy. They are the site-wide choices for how your courses look, who can reach them, and which currency you use. You need the free Learnomy plugin. No module has to be turned on for it. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open General. Set up Course Setup. Set Access Control. Set sign-up and currency. Then save, and know the Actions. Step one. Open General. In your WordPress admin, open L M S Settings, then Settings. The page opens on General. Its first card is Course Setup. Access Control, Academy Mode, and Currency and Payments come under it. Step two. Set up Course Setup. Container Width is how wide Learnomy pages can get on your site. Nine sixty pixels, eleven hundred, twelve hundred, fourteen hundred, or Full Width. Completion Rules has three choices. Strict keeps a lesson from being marked complete until its requirements are met. Advisory shows the requirements, but lets the student mark it complete anyway. Off removes them. This is the site default. A course or a lesson can set its own. Administrators, and the author of a course, are not held by these rules. The one exception is a lesson set to be completed by its SCORM package. It stays strict for everyone. Step three. Set Access Control. Private site makes visitors sign in before they can open the course catalog, a course, a lesson or a quiz. It is off on a new site. Homepage sends visitors from your front page to the course catalog. Only the front page is moved. Mobile app lets the Learnomy app connect to this site. The app itself needs Learnomy Pro. App password sign-in lets members sign in to the app with their WordPress password. Both switches are on. Step four. Set sign-up and currency. In Academy Mode, Solo academy is for a site with one teacher. It has its own tutorial. Student registration lets students sign up on their own. It is on. Turn it off and the student sign-up page returns page not found. You can still add students yourself. Currency is the currency for your course prices and payments. Leave Currency Symbol empty to use the usual symbol for it. Step five. Save, and know the Actions. Save Changes is under the four cards. It is not clicked here. It stores every General setting as it is shown. Below it is a part called Actions. What is in it works at once, without Save Changes. Once you have hidden the Getting Started guide, a Show the guide again button here puts it back. Open setup wizard runs the wizard again. Reset demo data deletes the demo content and makes it again. Neither is clicked here. That is all five. General opened, Course Setup set, Access Control set, sign-up and currency set, and the Actions known. The basics of your site are now set the way you want them. Next in this series: Change your page addresses.
