Transcript

In this tutorial you will use the question map and flag questions in a Learnomy quiz, the way a student does in a long exam. You need the free Learnomy plugin, with the Quizzes module on, and a quiz that uses the Focused layout. Nothing else has to be turned on. It takes about three minutes. There are four steps. Set Navigation to Free. Open the quiz as a student. Use the map and the flags. Then come back and hand in. Step one. Set Navigation to Free. Open Learnomy, then Quizzes, and edit your quiz. In the section called Behaviour, the Display template is Focused, one question at a time. In the same section, Navigation has to be Free. That is where a new quiz starts. With Sequential, students go through in order, and jumping from the map is off. Step two. Open the quiz as a student. Now sign in as a student and open the quiz. The start screen lists ten questions, twenty minutes, and the passing score. The map and the flags come with every quiz in this layout. There is nothing for the student to switch on. Step three. Use the map and the flags. Click Start Quiz. At the top is a ring with the number of questions answered. Beside it is the question you are on. Answer, and click Next. The ring fills as you go. Not sure about a question? Click Flag for review, and move on. The button now reads Flagged. Now click the ring. The question map opens, with one cell for each question. The colours mean Answered, Flagged, Current and Unseen. Click a cell to jump straight to that question. The map closes. Carry on to the last question. There, Next reads Submit Quiz. If anything is unanswered or flagged, the quiz stops first, at a screen called Before you submit, with the count of each. Review unanswered jumps to the first question still open. Review flagged jumps to the first one you marked. Keep working takes you back to where you were. Here Review unanswered opens the flagged question. Flags are your own markers. They are never graded. To hand in from Before you submit, click Submit Quiz. When nothing is open and nothing is flagged, the quiz hands in without stopping here. Step four. Come back and hand in. A quiz left open is kept as it was. Open it again and click Start Quiz. Click the ring. The answers and the flag are still there. Go to the last question and hand in. The result comes up at once, with the score, passed or not passed, and the review. That is all four. Navigation set to Free, the quiz opened as a student, the map and the flags used, and the quiz handed in. Your students can now find their way around a long quiz. Next in this series: Resume a quiz where you left off.
