How to give a membership with a gift code in Learnomy, step by step: check the Memberships Pro extension is on, buy one gift code or a set for a team from My Account, then Gift, share a code or its link, redeem a code, and track every code under LMS Commerce, then Gift Codes.
In this tutorial you will give a membership with a gift code in Learnomy. One person pays, and someone else gets the membership. You need Learnomy Pro with its Memberships Pro extension on. You also need a paid membership plan and a payment gateway. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Check Memberships Pro is on. Buy gift codes. Share a code. Redeem a code. Then track codes as the owner. Step one. Check Memberships Pro is on. In your WordPress admin, open L M S Settings, then Modules, and find the Memberships Pro card. Gift codes are part of it. Its switch has to be blue, as it is here. It also needs the Membership card beside it to be on. Step two. Buy gift codes. Now sign in as a member. In My Account, open Gift. The box on the right is called Buy a membership as a gift. Choose the Membership plan, then type the Number of gifts. One for a friend, or a set for a whole team, up to five hundred. The Total follows. Choose the Payment method and click Continue to payment. The member pays once at the checkout, and gets one code for each gift, on this page and by email. It is not clicked here. Step three. Share a code. After the purchase, the same page lists Your gift codes. Each row has the code, its plan and a badge. An Available code can be given away. Send the code itself, or click Copy link and send the link, which opens this page with the code already filled in. Each code gives one membership. A code that is not used within ninety days stops working. Step four. Redeem a code. The person who was given a code signs in, opens Gift in their own account, and types it under Redeem a gift code. They click Redeem code, and get the plan the code was bought for, for one billing period. It is not clicked here. Someone who already has a membership cannot redeem a code. It stays unused, to keep for later or to pass on. Step five. Track codes as the owner. Back in the WordPress admin, open L M S Commerce, then Gift Codes. Four cards count the codes. Unclaimed, Redeemed, Cancelled and Expired. Under the cards, Issue codes lets you make codes yourself, for a giveaway or a team. Choose the Plan and How many codes. They are emailed to you and listed below. It is not clicked here. The table shows who each code was Bought by and, once it is used, who it was Redeemed by. Cancel, on an unclaimed code, stops it from working. It asks first, and it does not refund the payment. That you do yourself. That is all five. Memberships Pro checked, gift codes bought, a code shared, a code redeemed, and the codes tracked as the owner. Your members can now pay for someone else to join. Next in this series: Offer an Open Badge with certificates.
