In this tutorial you will create a coupon in Learnomy. A coupon is a discount code that a student enters at checkout. You need the free Learnomy plugin, with the Coupons module on. It is off on a new site, unless the setup wizard turned it on. Turn it on under LMS Settings, then Modules. You also need a paid course. It takes about three minutes. There are six steps. Open Coupons. Enter the code and the discount. Choose what it applies to. Set the limits. Create the coupon. Then see where students use it. Step one. Open Coupons. In your WordPress admin, open LMS Commerce, then Coupons. Coupons is in the menu only while the Coupons module is on. The form at the top is Create New Coupon. The coupons you already have are listed under it. Step two. Enter the code and the discount. Type the code in Code. At checkout it works in capitals or in small letters. Discount Type has two choices. Percentage, or Fixed Amount. Value is the number. With Percentage, fifteen means fifteen percent off. Step three. Choose what it applies to. Applies To has three choices. Courses, Membership plans, or Courses and membership plans. On a membership that renews, the code takes money off the first payment only. To keep the code to certain courses, type a course name under Restrict to specific Courses, and pick the course from the list. Leave it empty and the code works on all courses. Step four. Set the limits. Usage Limit is how many times the code can be used in total. Per-User Limit is how many times one person can use it. Leave either one empty for no limit. Min Purchase is the lowest price the code works on, before the discount. Start Date and Expiry Date open and close the offer. Leave Expiry Date empty for a code with no end date. Step five. Create the coupon. With Status on Active, click Create Coupon. It is not clicked here. The new code then joins the list. Each row has the code, the discount, how often it was used, and its status. This older code has passed its Expiry Date, so its status is Expired. Step six. See where students use it. Now sign in as a student and open the checkout of a paid course. The field is called Coupon Code. The student types the code and clicks Apply. A valid code adds a Coupon line to the Order Summary and lowers the total, before anything is paid. When WooCommerce runs your checkout, this field is not there, and you use WooCommerce coupons instead. That is all six. Coupons opened, the code and discount entered, what it applies to chosen, the limits set, the coupon created, and the checkout field seen as a student. You can now run a discount with a code of your own. Next in this series: Follow a purchase through checkout.
