Transcript

In this tutorial you will follow a purchase through checkout in Learnomy, the way a student does. Nothing is bought. You need the free Learnomy plugin, a payment gateway that is connected, and a paid course. The coupon field also needs the Coupons module, which is off on a new site unless the setup wizard turned it on. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open the checkout. Read the Order Summary. Fill in Billing details. Enter a coupon, which needs the Coupons module. Then pay. Step one. Open the checkout. Sign in as a student and open a paid course. The price and the Buy Now button are in the box on the right. Buy Now opens the Checkout page for that course. Step two. Read the Order Summary. It names the course and its instructor, and gives the Price. A sale discount, a coupon and tax each get a line of their own in this box when they apply. None applies to this order. Step three. Fill in Billing details. First name, Last name, Country, Address, City and Postal code are needed before the student can pay. The two fields marked optional can stay empty. The details are saved to the student account, so the next checkout comes filled in. Step four. Enter a coupon. A student with a discount code types it in Coupon Code and clicks Apply. The field is there only while the Coupons module is on. A valid code lowers the total on the page. A code that has expired, or is for another course, gets a message instead. Apply is not clicked here. Step five. Pay. The Payment box holds the payment methods you have turned on. On this site that is card payment, through Stripe. The card fields appear once the billing details are complete. The student enters a card and pays without leaving the page. Nothing is bought here. After a real payment, the student lands on a thank-you page, and is enrolled once the payment is confirmed. That page is not shown. That is all five. The checkout opened, the Order Summary read, Billing details looked at, the coupon field found, and the Payment box seen. Nothing was paid. You now know every part of the page your students pay on. Next in this series: Add a flat tax rate.
