Transcript

In this tutorial you will manage your stored data in Learnomy. Two logs grow as your site is used. You choose how long each is kept, and what happens to everything if the plugin is ever deleted. You need the free Learnomy plugin. No module has to be turned on for it. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open Data Management. Set how long the audit log is kept. Set how long the email log is kept. Decide what an uninstall does. Then save your choices. Step one. Open Data Management. In your WordPress admin, open L M S Settings, then Settings. Data Management is near the bottom of the list, under Advanced. The section has one card, Data Retention, with three settings. Step two. Set how long the audit log is kept. Log Retention is a number of days, for the audit log and the Payment Log. Once a week, Learnomy removes entries older than that. It starts at three hundred and sixty five. The audit log is the record Learnomy keeps of events on your site, such as a refund you gave, a subscription that was cancelled, or an agreement to your terms at sign-up. A shorter time keeps the table small. A longer time keeps more history. Open reports in Reported Content, and Payment Log events that failed or are still pending, are kept until someone deals with them. Set zero to keep everything. Step three. Set how long the email log is kept. Email Log Retention works the same way, for the records of emails and notifications Learnomy has sent. A new site starts at three hundred and sixty five days. Zero keeps everything. These are the rows you see under L M S Settings, Email Log. They hold names and message text, so a shorter time means less personal data kept on your site. Step four. Decide what an uninstall does. On Uninstall has one switch. Remove all plugin data when the plugin is deleted. It is off, and that is the safe choice. With it off, deleting Learnomy keeps your courses, enrolments, certificates and transactions, and a later install picks them up again. With it on, deleting the plugin removes all of it for good. Deactivating the plugin never deletes anything. Step five. Save your choices. Save Changes is under the card. It is not clicked here. Nothing is removed at the moment you save. The weekly clean-up uses your new numbers the next time it runs. What it removes cannot be brought back, so take a backup before you shorten a time. That is all five. Data Management opened, the audit log time set, the email log time set, the uninstall choice made, and your choices saved. You now decide how long Learnomy keeps its records. Next in this series: Run the setup wizard.
