Transcript

In this tutorial you will connect Learnomy to your community. Learnomy runs the courses. BuddyNext and Jetonomy bring them into your community and your forum. Learnomy itself is free. The BuddyNext steps need BuddyNext Pro, and the forum step needs Jetonomy Pro. There is nothing to switch on inside Learnomy. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open Companion Plugins. See finished courses in the feed. See certificates on a profile. Give a course a community. Then open a forum space to students. Step one. Open Companion Plugins. In your WordPress admin, open L M S Settings, then Companion Plugins. Jetonomy has a card here. BuddyNext has none; it connects by itself once it is active. A card reads Connected when that plugin is active on your site. Jetonomy is connected here. There is nothing to set up on this screen. Each plugin works on its own, and the links appear once both are active. Step two. See finished courses in the feed. This step needs BuddyNext Pro. Sign in as a member. When a student completes a course, a card marked Course is posted to the community feed. Only a finished course is posted. Enrolling, or being part way through, posts nothing. Step three. See certificates on a profile. Open a member's community profile and click the Portfolio tab. Certifications lists the courses that member has completed. A course with a certificate reads Certified under its name. Step four. Give a course a community. Back in the admin, open Learnomy, then Courses, and edit a course. In the column on the right is a box named Community. With its switch on, the course has a private space of its own. Students are added as they enrol, and removed when their access ends. The switch acts at once, so it is not clicked here. Step five. Open a forum space to students. This step needs Jetonomy Pro. Open Jetonomy, then Spaces, click Edit on a space, and open the Access Rules tab. Under Add Access Rule, the first list has a choice named Learnomy. Pick it, then search for the course. After Add Rule, anyone enrolled in that course can open the space, and a student who leaves the course loses it again. It is not clicked here. That is all five. Companion Plugins opened, finished courses seen in the feed, certificates seen on a profile, a course given a community, and a forum space opened to students. Your courses now show up where your community already talks. Next in this series: Enrol students from another system.
