Transcript

In this tutorial you will lock a quiz in Learnomy, so students are asked for a code first, or can open it only between two dates. You need the free Learnomy plugin, and a quiz. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open the quiz. Open Access and Schedule. Set an Access code. Set when it opens and closes. Then see it as a student. Step one. Open the quiz. In your WordPress admin, open Learnomy, then Quizzes, and click Edit on the quiz. The quiz editor opens, with its settings in sections. Step two. Open Access and Schedule. In the quiz editor, this section is folded. Click its heading to open it. It has three fields. Access code, Opens at and Closes at. All three are optional. Step three. Set an Access code. Type a code of up to fifty characters. Capitals count, so students must enter it exactly as written. Leave it blank for no code. Give the code to your students yourself, in class or by message. A student enters it once. Step four. Set when it opens and closes. Opens at is the first moment a student can start, in your site timezone. Before it, a student who opens the quiz sees the date it opens, on a screen not shown here. After Closes at, the quiz takes no new attempts, and a student who opens it is told when it closed. Then click Update Quiz. Step five. See it as a student. Sign in as a student and open the course. The quiz is listed in the course outline. Open it. In place of the start screen, the page says Access code required. The student types the code exactly as you wrote it and clicks Continue. With the right code, the start screen takes the place of the code screen. The code stays good for that student until you change it. Admins and instructors skip the code screen, so test with a student account. That is all five. The quiz opened, Access and Schedule opened, an Access code set, the opening and closing times set, and the code screen seen as a student. Your quiz now asks for a code, or keeps to the dates you set. Next in this series: Limit quiz attempts.
