Online Course Subscription: Sell All Your Courses as a Membership

Video 2 of 7 · 3:06 · captions included

What is an online course subscription? It is one recurring payment that opens all your courses, in place of a separate price on each one. This video explains why a plan earns more steadily than selling course by course, and shows one running on a WordPress site.

What is an online course subscription? It is one recurring payment that opens all your courses, in place of a separate price on each one. The student pays monthly or yearly. Every course in the plan is open. And it stays open for as long as they stay a member. Why sell it this way? When you sell one course at a time, every month starts at zero. A plan gives you income that repeats. Each new course you publish makes the same plan worth more, with nothing new to sell. And the student makes one decision, not a new one for every course. On a WordPress site, a plan takes four steps. Give it a name and a price, billed monthly or yearly. Tick the courses it opens. That can be every course you have. Add a free trial, if you want people to look inside first. Publish, and the plan appears on your membership page. Here is that page on a real WordPress site. Each plan is a card, with its price and what the member gets. Behind it is the catalogue. A course can be free, carry its own price, or be included in the plan. A member has one page for all of it. Every course they opened, and how far they are in each. With BuddyNext on the same site, each course has a room, so members learn together and not alone. A subscription only lasts if members keep getting something. So every finished lesson is saved, and every finished course ends with a certificate, which the community profile shows to other members. You are not locked into one model. A course can keep its own price and also sit inside the plan, so the student chooses. Every renewal is recorded in your own dashboard, and the money goes to your own Stripe or PayPal account. It is fair to the member too. They can cancel with one click, and keep access to the end of the term they paid for. And every invoice is kept in their account. Three things need the paid version. A member can pause in place of cancelling. A failed card payment is retried for you. And a member can change plan, with fair credit for the time left. Side by side. Course by course, each month starts at zero. With a subscription, the income repeats. A new sale for each course, or one plan that covers them all. Students who buy and leave, or members who stay. A launch for every new course, or more value in the plan they already have. Every month you sell course by course, you start again from nothing. A plan you open today is already renewing next month. Helped With Setting Up Theme

Camila Scot of Wbcom was helpful. I got a super prompt help with my BuddyX Theme. Although I am a free version user, I got irst attention. I am satisfied. I will eventually buy the lifetime version once we fully deploy it and we are sure it meets our need.
