Transcript

In this tutorial you will learn who can do what in Learnomy. The plugin works with three kinds of people. Students, instructors and administrators. You need the free Learnomy plugin. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Find the Learnomy roles. Know what a Student can do. Know what an Instructor can do. See how someone becomes an Instructor. Then know what an Administrator can do. Step one. Find the Learnomy roles. In your WordPress admin, open Users. The links at the top list each role that someone on your site has, with how many people have it. Student and Instructor appear once at least one person has them. Learnomy adds those two roles. The first is Student. Here the list shows the people who have it. The second is Instructor. The other roles come from WordPress and from your other plugins. Step two. Know what a Student can do. Anyone who signs up through Learnomy becomes a Student straight away. A Student can enrol in courses, take lessons and quizzes, and leave reviews. People who already have the WordPress Subscriber role can do the same things, so your existing members can enrol without a new account. Everyone who is enrolled is listed here, under Learnomy, then Students. Step three. Know what an Instructor can do. An Instructor can do everything a Student can. On top of that, an Instructor can create courses and quizzes, grade work, and upload media. An Instructor manages only their own courses, and sees only their own students and earnings. This list, under Learnomy, then Instructors, shows each one with their courses. Step four. See how someone becomes an Instructor. Nobody gets that role on their own. A member applies, and the application waits on the Applications tab of the Instructors page. Approve gives the member the Instructor role. They keep what a Student can do. Approve and Reject are not clicked here. Step five. Know what an Administrator can do. A WordPress Administrator can do everything in Learnomy. That includes the settings, the categories, the certificates, and approving instructors. You do not give an Administrator a Learnomy role. Their access is complete already. So keep that role for the people who run the site. That is all five. The roles found, the Student known, the Instructor known, the way to become one seen, and the Administrator known. You now know who can do what on your site. Next in this series: Release lessons on a schedule.
