Transcript

In this tutorial you will choose your page layouts in Learnomy. One screen sets how the course catalog, the course page, the lesson and the quiz are laid out. You need the free Learnomy plugin. No module has to be turned on for it. It takes about three minutes. There are six steps. Open Layouts. Choose the catalog and course layouts. Set the learning flow. Set the catalog grid. Save, and set one course apart. Then see the catalog as a member. Step one. Open Layouts. In your WordPress admin, open L M S Settings, then Settings, and click Layouts. The section has one card, Layouts. Each row is one kind of page, with a list of the layouts it can use. Step two. Choose the catalog and course layouts. Course catalog has two. Grid, which is the default, and Filter sidebar. Course page has four. Classic, with a hero and a sticky sidebar, is the default. The others are Hero / landing, Focused, which puts the content first, and Split / magazine. Step three. Set the learning flow. Lesson has two layouts. Immersive, the default, has no theme header or footer. Embedded in theme keeps the lesson inside your theme. Course quiz and Standalone quiz have three each. Match the Lesson is the default. Always immersive and Always embedded in theme set a quiz apart from the lesson. Keep them matched unless you mean otherwise. When a lesson and its quiz differ, your theme header and footer appear and disappear as a student moves between them. Step four. Set the catalog grid. Catalog columns is how many course cards sit in one row on a desktop screen. Two, three, four or five. It starts at three. Courses per page is how many courses one page of the catalog lists before a second page starts. It can be from one to sixty, and starts at twelve. Category pages use the same number. Step five. Save, and set one course apart. Save Changes is under the card. It is not clicked here. Changing a layout never changes the address of a page. One course can have a layout of its own. Edit the course, under Learnomy, then Courses, and find Visibility and Media. Course template lists the same four layouts, and Use site default. A course on Use site default follows the Layouts setting, also when you change it later. A course with its own choice keeps it. Step six. See the catalog as a member. Now sign in as a member and open the course catalog. This is the Grid layout, with three cards in each row. Open a course, and it uses the layout chosen for the Course page. Here that is Classic. That is all six. Layouts opened, the catalog and course layouts chosen, the learning flow set, the catalog grid set, one course set apart, and the catalog seen as a member. Your pages can now be laid out the way you want them. Next in this series: Turn lesson comments on or off.
