In this tutorial you will draw quiz questions from a pool, and put a timer on single questions, in Learnomy. You need Learnomy Pro. Both features belong to its Advanced Quizzes extension, which starts switched off. You also need questions in the Question Bank. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Turn on Advanced Quizzes. Open Advanced on the quiz. Set up the question pool. Set a timer on a question. Then see it as a student. Step one. Turn on Advanced Quizzes. In your WordPress admin, open L M S Settings, then Modules. Under Content, find the Advanced Quizzes card. It has a Pro badge. It starts switched off. Click its switch to turn it on. Here it is already on. Step two. Open Advanced on the quiz. Open Learnomy, then Quizzes, and edit a quiz. Scroll to the last section, Advanced, marked Pro. Click its heading to open it. Inside are a card for the question pool and a card for timers. Step three. Set up the question pool. With a pool, each time a student starts, the quiz pulls random questions from the Question Bank that match your filters. Under Categories, pick the question categories to draw from. Hold Command or Control to pick more than one. Leave it empty to draw from any. Min difficulty and Max difficulty keep the draw inside a band, from one to five. Pick how many questions sets the size of each paper. Marks per question makes every drawn question worth the same, so every student is marked out of the same total. Refresh preview shows how many questions the quiz will draw, and how many in the bank match your filters. It saves nothing. Then click Save pool. It is not clicked here. Step four. Set a timer on a question. In the same Advanced section, the card Per-question timers lists every question of the quiz. Type the seconds a student gets for that question. Zero means no timer. On this quiz each question has thirty seconds. There is no button for this card. A timer is stored when you leave its field. The time limit of the whole quiz still applies as well. Step five. See it as a student. Now sign in as a student and open the timed quiz. Click Start Quiz. A timed question carries a badge, Time remaining, counting down. When it reaches zero, the quiz moves on to the next question. Answer before the time runs out, and click Next. The next question starts its own thirty seconds. That is all five. Advanced Quizzes turned on, Advanced opened on the quiz, the question pool set up, a timer set on a question, and the countdown seen as a student. Your quizzes can now change from one student to the next. Next in this series: Use the question map and flag questions.
