In this tutorial you will set up your course catalog in Learnomy, the page where students find your courses. You need the free Learnomy plugin, and a few published courses. It takes about three minutes. There are six steps. Open Layouts. Choose the catalog layout. Set columns and courses per page. Search the catalog as a student. Filter by category and sort. Then switch between grid and list. Step one. Open Layouts. In your WordPress admin, open L M S Settings, then Settings, and click Layouts. The first row, Course catalog, sets the layout of the catalog page. Step two. Choose the catalog layout. Grid is the default. It puts a search box, a category list and a sort list above the courses. Filter sidebar moves them to a rail on the left, and adds filters for price, level, rating, duration, instructor and tags. Step three. Set columns and courses per page. Catalog columns is the number of cards in a row on a desktop screen. Three is the default. Courses per page is how many courses show before the list is split into pages. Twelve is the default. Click Save Changes to keep your choices. Step four. Search the catalog as a student. Sign in as a student and open Courses. Every published course with Public visibility is listed here. Type in the search box, and matching courses appear under it. Click one to open that course. Step five. Filter by category and sort. The category list shows one category at a time. Pick Community Building, and only its four courses are listed. The sort list orders them. Newest First, Most Popular, Highest Rated, or by price. Step six. Switch between grid and list. The two buttons on the right change the view. Click List view for a compact list. Each student's choice is remembered in their own browser. Grid view brings the cards back. That is all six. Layouts opened, the catalog layout chosen, the columns and courses per page set, and the catalog searched, filtered, sorted and switched to a list as a student. Your catalog is set up, and you know how students use it. Next in this series: Organize courses with categories and tags.
