Transcript

In this tutorial you will offer an Open Badge with certificates in Learnomy. An Open Badge is a certificate in a standard format that other sites can read. You need Learnomy Pro. Open Badges come with its Certificates Pro extension, which starts switched off. You also need a course that awards certificates. It takes about two minutes. There are four steps. Turn on Certificates Pro. Open the certificate page. Download the Open Badge. Then know what the badge holds. Step one. Turn on Certificates Pro. In your WordPress admin, open L M S Settings, then Modules, and find the Certificates Pro card. It has a Pro badge. It starts switched off. Click its switch to turn it on. Here it is already on. For Open Badges there is nothing else to set up. Step two. Open the certificate page. Now sign in as a student who has earned a certificate. In My Account, open Certificates and click Verify. This is the public page of the certificate. Anyone with its link can open it, without signing in, and see that it is valid. Step three. Download the Open Badge. With Certificates Pro on, the page has one more button, under Share this certificate. Download Open Badge. It downloads a small file that the student can add to a badge wallet or a profile that accepts Open Badges. It is not clicked here. Every valid certificate has this button, for every course. If a certificate is revoked or has expired, the button is gone. A wallet that already holds the badge of a revoked certificate can still read it. The badge is then marked as revoked, so the wallet shows that. Step four. Know what the badge holds. The file follows the Open Badges standard, version three. It carries the same facts as this page. The Course, and the date it was issued. The issuer in the badge is your site, by its site title, as under Issued By. It names the Recipient as shown here. The student's email address is not readable in the file. It is stored only as a hash. It also holds the signature of the certificate, and points back to this page as the place to check it. That is all four. Certificates Pro turned on, the certificate page opened, the Open Badge found, and what it holds understood. Your certificates now travel beyond your own site. Next in this series: Make certificates tamper-evident.
