How to create an online course, start to finish, on your own WordPress website. This video maps the whole journey in six stages, shows the choices you have at each one, and proves each stage on a real screen: plan, outline, lessons, quiz and completion, price, and what happens after you publish.
To create an online course, plan one result for the student, build it in six stages, and publish it on your own WordPress website. Here is the whole journey. Plan on paper, then outline in the Course Builder. Fill in the Lessons, and check the learning with Quizzes. Set the price under Pricing and Access, then look after your Students. Stage one, plan on paper. Start with one result the student gets. Break it into short lessons, and plan a quiz. Stage two, the outline. Group lessons into sections, like chapters, or keep one flat list. With Learnomy Pro, several courses can be joined into a learning path. This is the Course Builder, on a real course. Add Section starts a chapter. Add Lesson and Add Quiz put each item where students will meet it. That outline becomes the course page your students see. Stage three, the lessons. Each lesson has one Content Type. Text, Video or Audio. A PDF, a Live session, or a Download. Then choose when each lesson opens. At once when the student enrols, or on an Available date you set. Or, with Learnomy Pro, on a Content Drip schedule, such as seven days after joining. Here is the Content Type list in the lesson editor. With Embed, there are seven. In the Schedule card, Available date holds a lesson back until the day you choose. And this is a finished lesson, the way a student sees it. Stage four, check the learning. A quiz has six question types, from multiple choice to an essay. Its mode is Graded, Practice or Survey, and a Graded quiz counts toward finishing. With Learnomy Pro, you can also set an assignment, handed in and graded by you. Here is a quiz as the student meets it, with its Start Quiz button. Then decide what finished means. The course form gives you four rules. This is that list, Completion Requirement. All Lessons Completed is the default. Lessons plus Final Quiz also needs a pass. Percentage of Content finishes at a share you set. Manual Completion waits for you to mark each student. Under it is Award a certificate on completion, which needs the Certificates module switched on. Here is the result. Yuki opens the last lesson of her course, marks it complete, and her certificate is issued at once. It is under Certificates in My Account. Stage five, the price. Pricing and Access has choices such as Free, or a One-time payment. A Recurring subscription needs Stripe connected. Members only needs the Membership module. On the course page, the student sees the price and a Buy Now button. Buy Now opens the checkout on your own site, with the Order Summary. With the Coupons module on, Coupon Code takes a percentage or a fixed amount off. Nothing is paid here. Stage six, after you publish. Students enrol on your own site, their progress is saved lesson by lesson, and you can see who has gone quiet. This is the student's My Account. Four cards count courses enrolled, in progress and completed, and the average quiz score. Resume goes back to the lesson she was on. The owner's Students list shows each student's Completion Rate, and when they were Last Active. This filter finds who has gone quiet. Inactive for seven, fourteen or thirty days and more. The same stages build different sites. Teach alone, with the Solo academy switch. Or take on instructors, who apply to teach and can share each sale. Train staff with Invite only courses, where you add each person. Or sell one membership that unlocks a library of courses. Your next step. Today, write down the one result your course gives. This week, open the Course Builder and add your sections and lesson titles. Then finish one lesson and one quiz. Learnomy is the free course plugin for WordPress. Write down your one result today, and outline the course this week. Get Learnomy. The link is below.
