Transcript

In this tutorial you will set course prerequisites in Learnomy, so students finish one course before they can enroll in the next. You need the free Learnomy plugin, and at least two courses. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open the course form. Find the Prerequisites list. Tick the required courses. Update the course. Then see it as a student. Step one. Open the course form. In your WordPress admin, open Learnomy, then Courses, and click Edit on the course that should come second. In the course form, scroll down to the section called Prerequisites, Difficulty and Target. Step two. Find the Prerequisites list. It is at the bottom of that section, under What you will learn. The list holds every other course on your site. It is only there when you edit a course that already exists, so create a new course first. Step three. Tick the required courses. In a long list, type in the search box to narrow it down. Tick each course a student must finish first. Here, Community Writing Basics is ticked. You can tick more than one. A student must then finish all of them. Being enrolled in a required course is not enough. Step four. Update the course. Click Update Course in the Publish box. To open the course to everyone again, untick every course in the list and update. The rule applies to you too. You cannot enroll a student by hand, or from a list, until they have finished the required course. Step five. See it as a student. Sign in as a student and open the course. A Prerequisites section lists the required courses as links. A student clicks the link to take that course first. Enroll Now is still on the page. A student who has not finished the required course is refused, with a message that names it. That is all five. The course form opened, the Prerequisites list found, the required course ticked, the course updated, and the result checked as a student. Your courses now have an order students follow. Next in this series: Set course difficulty and target audience.
